When looking at the laws that Kranzberg’s and looking into the least and most beneficial or important it opens my eyes at how people view technology compared to me. When comparing the laws I feel that the least relevant law of Kranzberg’s I think is law number five, ‘All history is relevant, but the history of technology is the most relevant.’ I think that this is the least relevant law because if people were going to go out of there way to learn the history of what made this piece of technology or how the piece of technology was made or how it work sor why this piece of technology was made then they should live able to do that. I do not believe that it is very important for people to be forced to learn about all those questions on the background of technology. Instead I believe that we should give options, classes for those who want to learn about the background and behind the scenes persay of technology and those who want to learn how to use and master technology. People now a days are not the best with using technology so if we offer more and more life skill classes about teaching how to use technology in life then I feel it would be more beneficial. The most important law I think is law number one ‘Technology is neither good nor bad; nor is it neutral.’ Law number one is the most important because it gives people an option or choice of their own to either use social media to interact with society with a positive or negative manner. However there is never a neither or neutral side to how a user uses social media and its outcomes. People can choose to make the world a better place and spread kindness throughout the internet and society. People can also choose to be debby downers and make the world a more negative place by cyberbullying everyone and being mean. Thus leading to me to believe that the history of technology is not as important of the how to use technology. Yet people’s outlook to how they choose to use social media to interact with society.
Dr. Michio Kaku is a professor of theoretical physics at the City University of New York. He is also the author of “The Future of the Mind” the book discusses various possibilities of advanced technology that can alter the brain and mind. Looking into things such as telepathy, telekinesis, consciousness, artificial intelligence, and transhumanism, the book covers a wide range of topics. Dr. Michio Kaku believes that in the future, the next ten years he claims, that there will be a gradual change from the internet to something called the brain net. The brain net is the same thing as the internet but the brain net is thoughts, emotions, feelings, and memories transmitted across the planet. Scientists are now able to hook a brain up to a computer and begin to decode some our memories and thoughts. Dr. Michio Kaku says that this will cause a revolution in how we communicate and in entertainment. People will be able to feel real emotions during a movie that the character is feeling or feel what others are feeling at that moment. It will trend mostly on social media I believe because teens and other users will send memories, or sensations from certain events. For teens they can send how they felt at prom or on there first date. This would revolution how we communicate with one another and how social media is built. I am going to take the bait with this guy because if they are able to pull this off gradually people will start to diminish tensions will people as people begin to feel and experience the pain of others. This brain net will revolution are daily lives more than technology has today. Being able to feel how someone else feels just simply by an instagram post or tweet would blow my mind.
Technology has altered how we view what’s right and what’s wrong. This is because the internet, social media and search engines have a great affect on what we see and what we think is right or wrong. Social Media has an affect on what we view as right or wrong because people post and comment. Peoples posts can often affect how we view them. For example if someone posts a picture of them at a party drinking or smoking, then that can affect our view on them and if that’s right or wrong based on what we do on our free time. This can also have an affect on getting a job because if they are always posting a picture of them drinking every night then a company may not want to hire them because they are viewed as an alcoholic because they post pictures of them drinking every night. Search engines can also have an affect on what we search and how we view what we search. Google is a power house when it comes to manipulating how we view certain people or items. For example, when people created the poop on the sidewalk picture under the terrorists name and had it make the top results list google did not manually fix that search result list. However when the picture of michelle obama as a monkey showed up on the top results list, google manually fixed that search result. Search engines can make us view how they want us to view something. Thus making our ethics follow theres in a way.
The IT revolution has been more transformative than previous technological revolutions because not only has the IT revolution shaped our economy but also our quality of life. The IT revolution has shaped our economy by relying on consumers to buy products such as Iphones, TVs, wifi, and computers. This causes these items to be considered to be everyday household items. This leads to our quality of life also depending on this products. We rely on our phones for news updates or social media accounts to keep us connected to people that we do not always see everyday. We rely on our TV for news updates as well and other important information such as politics. Social media accounts can help us stay connected to politics. Candidates connect us to them through various social media platforms. Social media platforms allow candidates to spread their campaign across a large variety of people quickly. Previous technological revolutions have allowed for the spread of ideas and beliefs fast too but not as fast and as big of a distance as the IT revolution has. Past technological revolutions have also changed how we communicate with each other. The release of the printing press allowed for people to communicate with a wide spread of people. The IT revolution has affected how and who we communicate with greater than every other revolution. We can now communicate with people around the globe at the speed of light…almost. The IT revolution has been more transformative and has had a greater impact on society than any other technological revolution.
The most revolutionary piece of technology in the 2000 is personal computers. Revolution is something that has a big impact on society. Personal computers have changed how people work, how people are entertained, and how people communicate. Personal computers were the first that could be used at home and on the go, for example a laptop. As personal computers progressed they grew in the workplace. They allowed for work to be done at home and at an office. They could be only at an office or only at home or with a laptop they could carry there needed information to do work to and from the office and home. Personal computers are also a new form of entertainment. They can be used for watching movies, tv shows, youtube, and other videos. Personal computers also can access social media websites such as facebook, instagram, snapchat, linkedin, and twitter. Not only social media and watching videos but aso streaming music like spotify and pandora. Communication due to personal computers has changed tremendously. Now almost everyone in the world has a personal computer, this allows people from all around the world to connect by using email, different messaging sites, and skype. Another form of entertainment is games. A lot of websites have created games and gaming has transformed into one of the biggest forms of entertainment today. Overall personal computers have impacted society in not only one way but in multiple. Through entrainment, communication throughout the world, how people can do there jobs, personal computers is revolutionary.
The biggest impact of technology on my life today has been education. The way I learn and what I want to learn. Technology is advancing rapidly and will continue to for a long time. Due to this fact, I believe that computers science or computer programming is going to be in every job in some sort of way. I am choosing to start learning about computer science and computer programming at a young age so I can try and keep up with the advancements that are to occur. This has cause me to join the IT academy and enroll in basically a full computer science schedule for my senior year. Technology also has changed the way I learn. I want to learn with a computer at my fingertips. This doesn’t mean that I want no human interaction and just a computer with a voice coming out of it telling me what to do. I want human interactions teaching me how to computer science related activities and helping me further excel in computer science. By allowing me to have a computer in front of me, it further pushes the limits the teacher has to teach and for me to learn. Technology has evolved into so much more than people expected and continues to blow our minds. As the world continues so will technological advancements and how we go about living and learning. This causes me to believe that by taking computer science classes, I will be able to follow with most of the technological advancements.
