Futurist Dr. Michio Kaku and what he is predicting.

Dr. Michio Kaku is a professor of theoretical physics at the City University of New York. He is also the author of “The Future of the Mind” the book discusses various possibilities of advanced technology that can alter the brain and mind. Looking into things such as telepathy, telekinesis, consciousness, artificial intelligence, and transhumanism, the book covers a wide range of topics. Dr. Michio Kaku believes that in the future, the next ten years he claims, that there will be a gradual change from the internet to something called the brain net. The brain net is the same thing as the internet but the brain net is thoughts, emotions, feelings, and memories transmitted across the planet. Scientists are now able to hook a brain up to a computer and begin to decode some our memories and thoughts. Dr. Michio Kaku says that this will cause a revolution in how we communicate and in entertainment. People will be able to feel real emotions during a movie that the character is feeling or feel what others are feeling at that moment. It will trend mostly on social media I believe because teens and other users will send memories, or sensations from certain events. For teens they can send how they felt at prom or on there first date. This would revolution how we communicate with one another and how social media is built. I am going to take the bait with this guy because if they are able to pull this off gradually people will start to diminish tensions will people as people begin to feel and experience the pain of others. This brain net will revolution are daily lives more than technology has today. Being able to feel how someone else feels just simply by an instagram post or tweet would blow my mind.

  1. This is definitely an interesting thing to think about and brings many variables to what could possibly be the future. I think a brain net could potentially result in data issues, specifically regarding privacy and storage. Traditionally, when a new social media comes out, society takes some time to begin using it but after that, use grows exponentially. This could pose a big data storage concern with the massive amounts of people trying to save massive amounts of data. A brain net could also make data privacy that much more serious because a hack could actually mean losing your memories which I think would feel like a huge invasion of privacy.
